Iguazu and Sheraton

For a long time I heard of the wonderful Iguazu Falls but honestly didn’t think I would ever get the chance to go; so obviously I was very pleasantly surprised when I heard my mum had planned a trip to go the argentine side of the falls. The good thing was that we went during a long weekend which meant we could spend 3 days there (I know that doesn't seem like much but there isn't loads to do) Since I am a total hotel enthusiast, for me one of the best parts was that we were going to stay in Sheraton Resort and Spa. In my family, we rarely go to hotels (I probably haven't been in about 2 years), we usually rent apartments or stay with friends, which meant I knew I was going to love this trip.

On saturday, when we arrived at Sheraton we sped upstairs to our room, unpacked, had lunch and started the iguazu adventure. One of the advantages of staying in sheraton is that you are literally living in the national park, which means that nothing is far away. To get to the waterfalls, we walked out the hotel and there was this tiny cute little train (very very slow, makes you appreciate the scenery) that took us to the beginning of the trail. The trail consisted of a series of bridges that let you walk over the waterfalls and ends at “ La Garganta del Diablo “ (the devil’s throat) which is where you get absolutely soaked. You all standing above the waterfalls and all you can see below you is this massive whole with thousands of gallons of water gushing under you. There we took some pictures (waterproof case) gasped a lot and began returning home.

The next day, we woke up pretty early because today’s plan was to go to the brazilian side of the waterfalls. From our bedroom we could brazil, it was so close; so we took a taxi, crossed the border (bring a passport) and went to the brazilian national park. The view from there is a whole other thing. In argentina, you are on top of the waterfalls, and here you can look at all this from further away, which is amazing to put everything into perspective. Lots of pictures later, we came back to the hotel, got changed, and went out to Puerto Iguazu for dinner.

On monday we had to leave the hotel at 12am which meant that we determined to do as much as we can in that time; so we left the apartment at 9 am for the jungle adventure boat. We walked there, admired the scenery a bit and then got on the boat. This boat ride lasts 12 minutes and it takes you literally under the waterfalls. It is probably the funnest part of the trip and obviously we were soaking wet and cold but it was totally worth it.

For me this is was a great trip and anyone who gets the chance should come :)

  3. I've stayed at a Sheraton Hotel and it was AMAZING. They didn't have any normal sized rooms left, so they ended up giving us the 'Presidential Suite'. Words cannot describe...
